Best VMworld 2015 Sessions (IMHO) for Desktop Virtualization

With VMworld San Francisco rapidly approaching, many of us are wading through the session catalog. I'd like to share with you my personal session agenda. Some of these sessions are filled almost to capacity, so make sure to claim your seat. Also some of these sessions overlap so you will need to choose.

Sunday August 30

3:00 PM – 3:30 PM: How to Get Started with VMware vCloud Air: Five Options to Deliver Business Value.

In this quick talk Angelos Kottas explains to you how customers (just like you) are taking advantage of vCloud air starting out with 5 common use-cases. (HBC6546-QT)

Right after Shawn’s session please join me at the welcome reception at the solutions exchange. I will be at booth #2531

Monday August 31

8.30 AM – 9:30 AM: The “Snappy” Virtual Desktop User Experience

It's early but totally worth setting your alarm clock. In this session Aivars Apsite from Metro Health will review their latest VDI implementation including graphics. Throughout the session lessons learned will be shared. A must see. (EUC5020)

4:00 PM – 5:30 PM: Horizon Air - Delivering Desktops as a Service Workshop

The last one on the list for today is not really a session; it’s an expert-led workshop / hands-on lab: Even better, some exercise before you finish the day. Through exercises they will teach you how DaaS goes beyond typical VDI and work closely with VMware Horizon Air. Ask Alex Foradori or Chris Halstead all you want on how this would be relevant in your environment. If you can’t make this timeslot it’s also available as a self-paced version. (ELW-MBL-1656)

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: VMware’s End User Computing (EUC) Strategy into 2015 and Beyond

For this session I can simply copy and paste the intro: “Hear directly from VMware’s strategists and field professionals on End User Computing (EUC) Act 2 strategy into 2015 and beyond.” This panel discussion by Shawn Bass, TJ Vatsa, Harry Labana and Karthik Lakshminarayanan looks like it’s going to be interesting. But of course the place to be at the VMworld solutions exchange is booth #2531 where the Login VSI crew will be happy to help you with all your questions on VDI, Performance, RDSH, virtual users, and more. Hopefully we will have the pleasure to meet each other there. Enjoy VMworld!
