Taking performance on the road
Login VSI’s CEO, Eric-Jan van Leeuwen, departs today for Cape Town to begin an epic 600 km bicycle ride for charity. The ride benefits the Dutch foundation Red het Talent.
Each year this organization puts on this bike ride with mostly Dutch participants with the goal of reaching around €50,000 to sponsor projects benefiting South African orphans in townships. Each project is very specific and provides either a year of food, a new car for provisions, school supplies or a new soccer field. Eric-Jan will be visiting two projects where the funds are making a big difference in children’s lives. With little to no administrative overhead, yet just enough oversight to make sure the funds are being directed as intended, this foundation provides the optimal path to having an impact. “It’s satisfying to know the money is not disappearing into a large organization and that we are able to meet the kids and see the projects first hand,” says Eric-Jan.

With a total of 20 other riders, Eric-Jan raised €15,000, far beyond the €2,500 required by Red het Talent to participate. In an uplifting show of support, family, friends, Login VSI employees and even Login VSI customers contributed funds to the effort. The riders will clock close to 100 kilometers per day, staying at basic hotels.
Mission to help others
A root of Login VSI’s success is the founders’ appreciation for range of life experiences. Eric-Jan: "It is easy to forget that there are people who survive with the bare minimum. Journeys like this remind us all of our responsibility to help out where we can. As I trained over the past year for this ride, clocking over 3,500 kilometers, every time I got on the bicycle I remembered the reason for putting in the sweat. The basic urge to help others is very motivating".

Setting the pace
This ride also sets an example for Login VSI employees to give back as an important part of our company culture. While Login VSI’s mission is to make our customer’s lives easier in the domain of performance testing and end user experience, as a company we are committed to making a difference in the world beyond. This global perspective sets the context for our work at home—it’s a commitment to overcoming obstacles, finding a path, and making a difference.
We can’t wait to hear the report from Cape Town when Eric-Jan returns in one week. Best of luck on the ride. Cheers to making a difference!
