Using Login VSI with Lotus Notes

This document is In progress

Requirements

  • Lotus notes
  • Creating a profile
  • A filled mailbox

Step1: creating the profile

The Lotus Notes Scriptable Setup feature is going to be used to create a profile without user interaction. The scriptable setup feature reads a configuration file that contains the configuration to use. The configuration file needs to contain the following configuration:

Username=LoginVSI

KeyfileName=H:\username.id

Domino.Server=0

AdditionalServices=-1

AdditionalServices.NetworkDial=0

Mail.Incoming.Name=dummy

Mail.Incoming.Password=empty

Mail.Incoming.Server=dummy.example.com

Mail.Incoming.Protocol=1

Mail.Incoming.Username=dummy

Mail.Incoming.SSL=0

Mail.Outgoing.Name=dummy

Mail.Outgoing.Server=dummy.example.com

Mail.Outgoing.Address=dummy@example.com

Mail.InternetDomain=example.com

Save the configuration file as setup.txt

Step2: configure Lotus Notes for Scriptable Setup

To use Scriptable Setup the configuration file needs to be specified in a ini file. The ini file can be found in the following location:

%programdata%\ Lotus\Notes\Data\notes.ini

Add the following line to the ini file in the [Notes] section

ConfigFile=c:\setup.txt

Step3: place the setup file

Make sure that the setup file created during step 1 is available in the location specified in step 2.

Step4: run Lotus Notes

Run Lotus notes to create the profile. The profile will take some time to create. Close Lotus Notes after the profile is created and Lotus Notes opens.

Step5: Place the pre-configured mailbox

Place the preconfigured mailbox in %localappdata%\Lotus\Notes\Data\mail.

Lotus Notes is now preconfigured with existing mail items.
